Equipment :

  • Microwave-safe mug (12 oz or larger)
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Measuring spoons
  • Microwave oven

Ingredients :

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk dairy or non-dairy like almond or soy
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or substitute with coconut oil for vegan option
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for extra flavor
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate chips optional, for a chocolate mug cake
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder optional for a richer chocolate flavor

Instructions :

  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir them together until evenly mixed.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract (if using). Stir well until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  • Optional Add-ins: If you’re making a chocolate mug cake, stir in chocolate chips or cocoa powder.
  • Microwave: Microwave on high for 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds. Start checking at 1 minute, and continue to cook in 10-second intervals until the cake has risen and is set in the middle.
  • Test for Doneness: Check the center by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean when done. If it’s undercooked, microwave for another 10-20 seconds.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Let the mug cake cool for a minute before digging in. Top with whipped cream, ice cream, or fresh berries for extra indulgence.
